Senate health reform bill must improve Medicaid generic reimbursement rates
Medicaid Generic Reimbursement Rates Could Determine Your Future

During the weekly grassroots call with the National Community Pharmacists Association, participating pharmacists made it clear that the Senate health reform bill must include a fair reimbursement rate for Medicaid generic drugs.

That rate is at least 175 percent of the average weighted AMP currently in the Senate bill.

E-mail Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison THIS WEEK to urge them to increase the Medicaid generic drug reimbursement rates so you can continue providing service to your patients.

Here are key points to share with the senators:
  • Medicaid is an IMPORTANT part of my total business. I can't afford to stay in business and serve my patients if I am paid below my costs to purchase and dispense generics.
  • Independent community pharmacists provide twice as many Medicaid prescriptions as other pharmacies.
  • Ask the senators to do all they can to assure that the Senate Medicaid generic drug reimbursement rates are increased and are included in the final health care reform bill.
Also ask the senators to send a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asking him to support this increased reimbursement rate in the final health care reform bill.

Stay tuned!
